Protocol
COVID 19 Protocol Update December 23 2020
In response to the announcement made by our premier Doug Ford, we wanted to let you know that we are able to remain open as we have been deemed an essential service. As Westoak Animal Hospital is now fully curbside, we are able to continue offering routine, non-emergency, and emergency appointments and procedures. Unfortunately, this means that clients are not allowed to come inside the hospital with their pet.
To see what a typical visit looks like, please check our previous updates below.
Medication Refill Request new policy:
Westoak Animal Hospital will be implementing a 24-hour notice requirement for refills on medications. Please plan ahead to make your request. For the safety of your pet, certain medications require checkups and/or blood tests at specific intervals in order for your pet to safely remain on the medication longterm. This 24-hour notice policy allows our doctors the time to review your pet¹s medical record, make changes if necessary and prepare the medications. Please note that any medication that comes from our compounding pharmacy is taking longer to receive so please plan ahead and provide at least 1-week notice.
Food Request:
Due to delays in delivery services, we strongly recommend that you make arrangements to order your food about 1 week before you run out. We are not currently aware of any shortages, but will let any affected clients know if it becomes an issue. For your convenience, you can send an email to reception@westoakanimalhospital.com to order your food and one of our team members will respond during normal business hours to let you know we have received your order.
We are grateful for your continued understanding, patience and trust in Westoak Animal Hospital. It is because of this that we are able to do our part in preventing the spread of COVID-19 and keep our staff and clients healthy while treating your cherished family members.
Sincerely
Dr. Kolhmaier, Dr. Fisher,
and the team at Westoak Animal Hospital

The safety of our clients, their pets and our staff are our top priorities. As we are clearly into the second wave of Covid-19, we have had to make a hard decision and have changed our protocols in order to be able to continue caring for your beloved pets. Starting on Monday October 5th we will be implementing 100% curbside veterinary services.
A typical visit will now look like this:
-
A phone call to Westoak Animal Hospital to book your pet's appointment
-
Please reply to confirm your appointment and include any medical concerns for your pet.
-
Call when you arrive for your appointment
-
A member of our team will come to collect your pet and obtain a history
-
Veterinarian will perform the physical examination
-
Veterinarian will call you with the physical examination findings and treatment options
-
Approved treatments will be performed and medications prepared.
-
Your pet will be returned to you at your car with any medications or foods

A team member can process your payment over the phone or we can bring the machine outside to you.
For food and prescription medication refills we ask that you call ahead. When we call you to let you know that it is ready for pick up, we ask that you pay at this time. Once you arrive, call the clinic and a team member will bring it out to your car.
Coming soon, MyVetStore will allow you to order food for your pet online! Check our website soon for more details.
These measures may seem extreme at this time, but we get one chance to do this right. Let's all do our part to take care of each other.

Appointments and Clinic Hours
Effective Monday, March 23, 2020, our hours are changing to Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Saturday, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, to accommodate urgent medical cases.
At this time we will be postponing all non-essential appointments and procedures until further notice. We will be contacting those affected to reschedule. Please visit our website and Facebook page for up-to-date information.
For existing appointments, please send a family member/friend in your place, or consider rescheduling your appointment if the following applies to you:
-
you have traveled outside of Canada within the last 14 days and/or
-
have cold/flu-like symptoms and/or
-
have been exposed to anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19
To limit the number of people in the clinic, we request that you have only one person attend the appointment with their pet. Once you arrive at the clinic, please call us from your car and reception will let you know when you may come in.
Pet Food Orders
We have been informed by our supplier that in order to ensure next day delivery of essential medical supplies, there will be a delay in receiving pet food. Pet food products will arrive in 3 to 5 business days. In addition, pet food will be limited to a 6-week supply, to ensure all pets have access to their food, without causing a pet food shortage.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation while we work together to keep everyone safe during this time.
If you have any concerns, please contact us at (905) 469-2595 during business hours. If you have a non-urgent question, you can email us at reception@westoakanimalhospital.com and we will return your email within 72 hours.
The team of Westoak Animal Hospital.
